Fastrack IESMs
To provide further versatility to Wavecom's Fastrack Supreme and Fastrack Xtend, Internal Expansion Socket Modules (IESMs) can be plugged in to the modems. Full details of the IESM interface are available, enabling the design of fully customised hardware. In addition, a standard range of IESMs is available, allowing the addition of extra functionality in a simple manner. Four IESMs are currently available; these are listed below.
- I/O + USB IESM
- GPS + USB IESM
- GPS + USB + I/O IESM
- Ethernet IESM
While it is possible to control some IESM functionality using AT command (e.g. I/O), it is necessary to write a user application using Wavecom's Open AT® Software Suite to create a full solution. As an example, with the combination of a Fastrack Supreme and a GPS + USB IESM, it is possible to create a tracking device with GPRS communications capability, without any further external hardware.
