Programmable Modems - GPRS, EDGE and 3G modems provide connectivity over GSM and 3G networks, utilising either a serial or USB interface.
The rugged Fastrack Xtend EDGE (FXT009) and Fastrack Xtend HSPA (FXT003) products are the latest releases in the Fastrack family, superceding the M1306B and Fastrack Supreme products. Beginning life in over ten years ago, the product range started as a GSM modem, evolving to support GPRS and to host user applications. Additional capability can now be introduced into the Fastrack Xtend using Fastrack Xtend Expansion cards, which can provide GPS, I/O, Ethernet and other functionality. The Fastrack Xtend can be controlled through an AT Command Set, over serial or USB interfaces. Windows drivers are available to support USB; Linux is supported through standard CDC ACM drivers. User applications, developed using the Sierra Wireless Software Suite, can be added to the Fastrack Xtend. The power and flexibility offered by the Fastrack Xtend makes it an ideal choice for enabling remote wireless connectivity to legacy equipment, as custom protocols can be managed, required information captured and uploaded, or critical events identified and communicated. The Fastrack Xtend can operate in low power modes, while network connected, making it ideal for remote solar or wind powered applications.
The entry level Airlink GL series are compact, robust GSM/GPRS modems, available in either RS232 (GL6100) or USB (GL6110) versions. The Airlink GL series are also capable of hosting customer applications developed with the Sierra Wireless Software Suite, providing an excellent value solution for a wide range of applications, including automated meter reading (AMR) and payment terminals.
